    Hi Greg,

I am a total newbie to golf and have only played an 18 hole course once and a 9 hole course once also. Went round the 18 hole course in 100 (Par 76) and the 9 hole course in 39 (par 39). The people I play with all say I am a natural at the game and yet whilst that is flattering is there anything you can tell me/advise me that will enable me to hone my skills and become a good golfer...??

Should I go for Lessons? Should I stay off courses and keep practising?

    Thanks
    Stuart

    Beginner - Lessons

    Hi Stuart,

These are very good scores for a complete beginner. However I would not rest on the basis that you are a complete natural. I would definately recommend you find a good teaching professional to run through all the basics with you. Believe me it is alot easier to correct faults when you are a beginner rather than trying to correct them after they have been built into your swing.

When having your lessons it is best to put what you learn into practice on the range as this often takes time to get the right movements. Once you are feeling comfortable then you should venture onto the course. The reason for this is that it is difficult to practice movements on the course as you cannot take your time as you can on the range otherwise you will hold people up, unless the course is particularly quiet that is.

You can print off any of the lessons on this site designed by our team of teaching professionals and take them with you to the range.
