  • Virtual golf

I had my first round of indoor virtual golf on Tuesday. I played Pebble Beach and I enjoyed the experience.

However, I soon developed a totally different ball flight using this simulator. As I've mentioned before, my bad shots always go to the right. On this simulator all my shots hooked left, especially with the driver. I don't know whether to think that the simulator isn't very accurate or I was somehow swinging differently.

As anybody got any idea's why this would happen ?

Will hitting the ball against a screen that is in front of you promote a different type of swing ?

But I threw loads of shots away on the greens. I couldn't get used to the putting.

I wouldn't take the simulator too seriously but that is pretty cool.

          Re: Virtual golf

I got told it as been used by professionals and it represents a true golf shot.

I was just wondering why all of sudden I started hooking the ball.

I did wonder if hitting the ball against a screen a few feet away, could change my swing somehow. Maybe I'm faster thru the ball or something. I wonder if I could develop this into my real game.

Here's my crazy idea: being that you were playing indoors at a simulator, is it possible that you flattened out your follow through because there is now a ceiling above you?

I am beginning to think the simulator isn't that accurate.

                Re: Virtual golf

I have always found that the simulators have very accurately displayed my ball flight pattern. Either way, it's just for fun and keeps your swing in tune during the winter.

i have found that they are very accurate, it just takes some getting used to swinging when confined like you are in them, and usually they don't have very tall tees which alters ball flight too. there a great place to practice.

                    Re: Virtual golf

Okay so the simulators are accurate. I'll have to go on it again and see I continue to hook the ball. I'm also interested to find out if my ball flight is different playing a real golf course.

                    Thanks for the replies !
