  • Club lie affects ball flight?

    Hi Group,

New here and heres my first question. My new set of used pings eye 2 blue dot lie angle has the toe pointing up a little. The guy at the golf shop said the only effect is a possible pull. He was right. My normal set up is a little open for a fade now I'm blasting it left with a draw.

How should I adjust my setup?

    Thx

If your toe is up you need a flatter lie angle.

I know nothing about Ping irons but the guy that sold you them wants a kick up the arse ,as he has sold you clubs that don't suit your swing.

If you can have the lie angles sorted ,all well and good but eye 2s aren't forged so they might break if bent.

I'll see what I can do next week. I didn't think 1 degree could make a dramatic difference but I guess I'm wrong.

Try holding your hands a little higher. This will help flatten out your lie angle.

But the better advice is to trade in your blues for greens.

Experiment with choking down on the grip. This will force you to bring the ball closer to your feet and lower the toe of the club. Keep in mind the real culprit in the pull might not be the lie of the club but the swing path.

Bottom line is to get clubs to fit you and your swing, not adapt your swing to the clubs... I did this for years and about quit the game until I figured out lie angles and how it affected ball flight and contact

1 degree isnt going to make a very noticable difference in ball flight, try hitting a lie board and see where your hitting then you can make a slight adjustment with the pings. it sounds like theres a change in your swing thou to make that much of a change, look into the swing weight or grips theyll change ball flight too. maybe just a little more time with them will help.
