  • excessive head swiveling

I was reviewing my swing on video and noticed that at the transition and the beginning of the downswing that my head swivels on my neck about 40 degrees toward the target (chin coming up) Many pros, most notably Jack Nicklaus swivel their heads away from the target; either at address or during the downswing. Not knowing whether this head swivel is the culprit or the result I have also noticed that my ball position is a tad too far forward and that I sway towards the target line in my downswing excessively. My bad miss is a push. When I am on I hit push draws.
Anyone else have this problem? I welcome your comments.

    Re: excessive head swiveling

Relax your shoulders and neck. That allows the head to rotate freely (or stay still over the ball) as your shoulders rotate about your neck.

Thanks Greg! I'll give that a try. It feels good in practice swings. It seems as though I had been tensing up my neck on the downswing. What I thought was my head swiveling was actually my head, neck, and shoulders all moving as one unit rather than freely and independantly in downswing.
