  • Alignment and single axis golf

I am having a very difficult time aligning to set up a shot while playing around of golf. I am fine on the practice Tee, but when I am playing a round, I tend to close my stance more and more to the point where my shots are very errant. Any thoughts

Lay a club down at your feet, aimed at your target. Do it while playing by yourself, as it's illegal.

The other thing to do is to stand behind your ball, pick your target, line up your target and your ball, and pick a point 12-16" in front of your ball. Then square your clubface through your ball to your intermediary point.

Keeping your club square, set up to the ball. Then swing.

      Hi Carey,

I have a very simple solution to this, being a 9 H/capp, I assume your pre-shot routine involves standing behind the ball inline with the target..........??

If so simply stand behind the ball and pick a target out for your feet line (maybe a bunker or tree etc) not the flag, once you work on this for a while, then do what I do every time, pick a taget line and a feet line at the same time.

Hope this helps, it does me.

      Ian.

Again, the general rule of thumb is to set the club first and then your feet, not visa vera.
