  • What's your left hand grip?

I'm referring to the left palm opened placing the shaft across the hand.

Every finger has 3 sections and 3 joints. I know the shaft runs through the middle section of the index finger. How about the other end? Does it run along the lowest section of the pinkie, or across the lowest joint of the pinkie, or even lower than that, on the palm?

There was a nice article by Leadbetter in the Jan issue of Golf Digest, and he shows the grip being placed starting in the middle joint (next to the finger tip) on the index finger, and running through the hand where the pinkie meets the palm (so not resting on the pinkie, but right beside it).

I've experimented with it - it feels pretty good. I've often mistaken that for the grip 'being in the palm', but I've come to understand that a grip 'in the palm' often ends up with the grip running off the hand near the wrist.

Thanks for all your replies guys. I guess that's just a minute difference so not so much worries on that, whether it's on the pinkie joint or slightly lower on the palm. This grip now shows me 2 knuckles, where my previous grip only showed 1 knuckle (which I guess means I have been gripping more on the hands than on the palm). I like how it feels like, more control even though it's less in my palms now. Great stuff!

Allow me to stretch this a bit further. So how do you decide where the clubface is pointing when you place the club in your hand? The club can obviously rotate all around, so how do you ensure you always hold it in the same rotational angle?
