  • Wrist Hinge

    Greg,
This site is great - the right hand drill music to my ears. I worked out the wrist hinge bit myself earlier in the year to lose my destructive hook and this has worked. I am now only battling a slice now with the driver which I never had before. Short irons are great though, ball stops very quick with this method.
The info you have provided me has confirmed that I need to work hard on my hip rotation on the downswing to get the face square to the ball as previously I was obviously relying on timing with the hands, occasionally with disasterous consequences!
The missing piece to the jigsaw at the moment as at what point of the backswing do you recommend starting the upwarded wrist hinge and should this continue to the top or before and complete the backswing with shoulder turn only ?

Start the upward hinge when you get the club parallel to the ground. The shoulders should have already made their full rotation to get the club to that point. Then your arms and hands can take the club up the rest of the way to the top.
