  • Throwing Hands

I have been struggling lately with my consistancy. I took my video camefra to the range today and taped a couple of swings. The only thing that really stood out to me is that I am throwing my hands and the club to the 1:00 position instead of extending down the target line. Then, to get into a good finishing position I have to snap the club back to the left. I used to play a slight draw on the ball but lately all my shots have been inconsistant. I will sometimes push the driver and even some irons and sometimes I will put a strong hook on the ball with my driver/fairway woods/long irons. I have always had a slight inside-out swing. However, it is now very noticable that i am throwing the hands to the right. Any idea what might be causing this and what I can do to fix it.

    Re: Throwing Hands

Um, in my opinion you're thinking of generating club head speed, which you think is going to give you that extra distance. I see it very often, as soon as some golfers want to generate more clubhead speed, they throw the hands and clubhead at the ball. That throwing causes the clubhead to change path, face angle and of course the tempo of the swing is all buggered up and with it the synch of the swing into impact.

So, forget generating extra clubhead speed. Think of tempo and swinging quickly into impact, don't get me wrong swing quickly, but stay in tempo.
At impact try to get your left wrist firm and in-line with the shaft and clubhead. Okay?
