Did not realize that I swung "over the top" so badly until I videoed my swing. Any REALLY good drills from anyone would help. One that I've heard is you put an old shaft or stick in the ground behind the ball and swing inside that, but how far behind the ball.

Re: Over the Top
I don't have a drill, but rather a swing thought/movement. Try initiating the downswing with the right knee. At first it might feel as if the right knee will run into the left...it probably wont though. The knees should be close together at swing's finish anyway. Check out knees on all the great players at finish. The reason why initiating the downswing with the right knee (for a RH golfer, that is) helps stop swinging over the top is because it promotes proper order of body movements in the downswing. You can swing over the top because of a number of reasons, however, if you start the downswing with the right knee, it makes it very difficult to swing over the top. Moving the right knee toward the target to initiate the downswing also promotes an in-square-in path.

Re: Over the Top
Try the inside the stripe drill I posted in the other thread
http://www.golfhelp.com/golf-tips/In..._Stripe_2.html
Or put another ball or a headcover an inch in front of the ball you want to hit .. hit the second ball or headcover and youre still coming over the top
Its a good idea when you do this to make lots of slow motion swings to get your transition right. Its the transition that drops your arms into the right place such that you arent throwing the shoulders/hands out towards the target. There are different ways to do this, either lower body or arms/hands initiated. Probably best to do both and see what suits you best

I do not understand. If I put a ball one inch in front (toward the target), I would think that I would WANt to hit it. In fact, I do not see how one would miss the second ball. What am I missing.

Re: Over the Top
I think "in front" refers to the direction that you are facing at address, and not along the target line. Someone also mentioned putting the ball or tee "behind", and that is also referring to the direction you are facing. In fact, you could put markers in front and behind, so you can better see the path your club is taking before and after impact.

Re: Over the Top
Am I right in assuming u mean out to in swing path? If so, another method other than what has already been suggested is, I use my umbrella. I push it into the ground about two feet to the right of the ball when standing at address.
