Re: Need Drill(s) to Fix Slice

sorry james but the thumbnails you attached are VERY misleading. SInce the club bottoms out below the left armpit, then the square part of the swing is there too, not in the middle of the stance as the diagram illustrates

Yeah I guess they are a bit misleading. The point I was tryingto make was that by trying to make the ball go straight by hitting the back of the ball, by the time the ball leaves the clubface a split second later the ball is going to the left, not straight.

By hitting the ball at 7 o'clock, where 12 o'clock is along the target line, the ball will be going straight.

Sorry if I confused people. God knows there's enough to confuse you about this game!

Now back to Tiger Woods 2005!

Actually I'm not so sure about that. Does the split second, one inch of impact-compression really necessarily translate to a draw? Don't people try to extend the path so that the clubface is square right before impact and square a few inches after impact, before the clubface closes?

For example, I hit it straight like a rocket. Does it then mean that I must definitely be hitting at 4 o'clock with clubface slightly open, so that when the ball compresses and flies out, club face is square and at 3 o'clock?

releasing the clubface is done by a continuas left forearm rotation, continuas being the key word. clubface will constantly be rotating

I see. So I could still be impacting at 3 o'clock but not releasing/rotating my clubhead, which explains why I can still hit it straight as a rocket eh? Thanks for bringing up that point. But I guess I still need to reconcile this imagery of extending the arms after impact, down the target line, so that we don't come too much on the inside.

I remember this drill to feel as if you are throwing the club at the target. This gives me the feeling that the club is supposed to go out along the target line after impact, and not come in so soon after impact
