I played today and was driving really well but I hit the grass first on nearly every second shot. I went round in 100 but I know it should have been a lot less, I only had 33 putts. Its been like this the last couple of times I've played, it seems like I've sorted my driving and putting out but ruined my iron play. Any advice would be much appreciated to say the least.
Don`t EVER say you`ve sorted anything to do with the golf swing!!
I guarantee you`ll have a round in the next couple of weeks when you`ll hardly hit a "Russell Grant" (fat and ugly) shot all day, but won`t be able to drive or putt and end up with exactly the same score.
Yes that is true, I played yesterday and while my iron play was much improved (I even took a couple of good divots) my driving was dreadful. Although I did reach the 18th, a long dog leg par 5 in 2. Still took 3 putts but I felt like I won the open!

I started taking a divot last year with Wedges (A massive divot though not a small one). I made the exact same post as you. I found practice, patience and more practice were the key elements to getting things right. It's sounds like a simple and straight forward solution but it's probably the correct one. Also try and spend a good day or two working on making smaller swing and concentrating on the back of the ball and making good contact. then move back to a full swing. Worked for me thats all I can say. Good luck!!
All these things sound a lot more like mental problems. if you think you are not taking the proper divot, moving the ball is not going to help. all the set up in the world won't do the trick if you change your focal point during your swing. (for whatever reason, dog bark, sunglare, shadows, curious) try developing a tighter focal point. put a small dot of paper or dead grass behind the ball. forget about the ball and try to hit the paper instead. practice hitting broken tees while waiting for your turn. when you are convinced you are not moving your eyes, then start making other changes. if you have ever hit a good shot, then you physically already know how. so why arent you?
