  • inside and inside

I am a 6 handicap who within the last 6 months switched from playing a natural fade to a draw. While the initial transition went extremely well, I am now facing a swing flaw that has developed and has become worse. The more I try to work it out, the worse it gets. I am bringing the club to far inside on my take a way. When I try to adjust by keeping my back swing further out side, I get the feeling of out, in, and over the top. I have completely lost my swing plane, help please. At least I have learned how to hit a low spinning hard hook, so when I play in a 40MPH wind , I will be able to handle it

    (Still laughing from that one....)

Ok. Why would you ever want to have the draw as your natural shot. A fade is prefered in that you get much more hight, control and landing stop time with a fade. As the saying goes, "You can talk to a fade, but a hook just won't listen." So now that you have the draw in your bag and even the 40yd hook under the bleachers, you want to get this thing back to square and maybe favoring a fade.

Start by not manipulating anything in the takeaway. Just let the shouders rotate. The arms raise. The hands set. Then turn and burn the hips through.

Get away from any thought of "Too far inside" or "take it outside" for now. Allways good to clear the thoughts before you swing. So let your natural swing back in.

if backswing is flat it could be bad weight positioning. Weight too much on balls of feet will make it flatter while weight on heels will make it more upright.

fantastic. that was it. I did not even have to hit a golf ball yet. Just by getting in my stance and adjusting my weight I can feel what was wrong. With my weight on the balls of my feet I was always on top of the ball , causing low smothering hook. No that I have adjusted the weight to my heels I can know finally feel that I am attacking the ball from inside and behind or under the ball if you well. Thanks Much

was it jack or arnie that said set up is 90% of the golf swing? Caution though, you dont want to hit under the ball, you want to hit it down into the ground

            Re: inside and inside

I just try and get the feeling of being behind the ball at impact instead of on top of the ball. Under was just a personal swing thought to help me remember to stay behind the ball. Thanks, for the help
