    Re: epiphiany????

pnearn - thanks for that - i figured you meant that. I have been experimenting with trying to break my wrists sooner and get into a more compact position at the top (recent video shows i still cross the line a bit ) I haven't quite mastered it yet and when i do set the wrists early i tend to overswing. Anyway will keep experimenting.

    cheers

Nick, same thing was happening to me which is why i've been working hard on staying centered over the ball and stabilising my lower body. Key feeling for me at address is to bow my knees out a touch (like sitting on a horse) and when I swing back have the feeling of the left knee staying out towards the target (maintaining the distance between my knees). This keeps my balance within my feet and ensures I cant actually swing back too far (im not flexible enough as I suspect most of us hackers arent ) so my 'swing' back feels much shorter before I feel that 'spring' back off my right side. The other key is the loose wrists to ensure they break early naturally. I have a recurring fault where I slide to far back off the ball meaning I have to slide forward to get my lower body ahead of the ball at impact. Staying centered and in better balance really helps me

        Re: epiphiany????

pnearn - i had a great ball striking round this weekend (first game after taping my swing for first time in while) by really concentrating on keeping weight on inside of back foot at the top of the swing. I too have a tendency to swing to far back and then get too active with legs on way down. I need to get the club more in front of me at top of swing - watch the pro's on a 7 or 8 iron and they are only at 3/4 arm position but with full shoulder turn. This is what i want to achieve but am not quite there yet.

        cheers

ps when i bow my legs (and i understand why you do it) i tend to swing to far round (i am flexible - have been playing for a long time!), so to keep my weight inside foot i kick back leg in a bit.
