i was thinking getting like a bag like a small travel bag and putting a big chunk of styrofoam(hehe however the heck its spelled) and then cardboard all around it
you might need something heavy in the middle of the styrofoam

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Impact bag
I've got an actual Impact Bag.
It's made of the same stuff the cover of gym mats are (the type you find on the walls in HS).
Then you fill it full of rags.
You could probably do the same thing with a backpack.

Re: Impact bag
Apparently the original idea came from Henry Cotton who used to use an old car tyre - it gives a good idea but must not be hit with a full swing!! A short back swing and a release to an impact position with the club face flat against the tread give the feeling you want at impact.
Warning - this may break a shaft if hit hard be careful!!!

Re: Impact bag
I used to belt away at an old car tire when I was younger, never had any breakages or any such problems.
A golf ball is harder then a car tire.
Sharft problems might occur (as with an impact bag) if a fast swing is arrested sharply at the club head, but not at the grip.

Re: Impact bag
nope I just decided to add it to the sentence twice and spell it differently for some reason...Originally posted by peter3I'm sorry: are you suggesting that "tyre" and "tire" isn't the same thing? AFAIK, the spelling is the only difference.
should read
actually a tire, depending on what you are measuring, is less resistant.

Re: Impact bag
You're not the only one!
While the rubber in a tyre (eng.UK) may be less resistant the entire tyre offers much more resistance to the passage of a club head as anyone who has tried to hit a tyre down a fairway will attest
It is also impossible to make a full swing at a tyre without the club bouncing back (more resistance) whereas when you hit a golf ball the club actually goes through quite easily.
All the above is off the point - I am advised that it is possible to break a shaft so please be careful.

Just before I tire of this subject, one more point.Originally posted by OOMIt is also impossible to make a full swing at a tyre without the club bouncing back (more resistance) whereas when you hit a golf ball the club actually goes through quite easily.
The idea is not to make a full swing, you are trying to mimic the impact position not hit something somewhere.
That is all.
