OK don't know if this will work, but I uploaded two pictures of my grip, left side of picture is old, and right side is what I am working on. Can I get opinions on this. Since it is the first of the year and it is raining decided to work on my fundamentals. Got to noticing my right hand was a little weak and too much in the fingers with no angle, also ties into my other post on maintaining shaft angle I believe. But I don't want to put this into play until I am sure I need too. I did notice just swinging in the house here, the grip on the right hand side of the picture feels like I have one hand on the club, maintains the shaft angle easier, and makes the wrist break almost automatic. Would a flawty right hand grip cause the errant shots I mentioned in the other thread. It is amzing how a small change like this could do so much. I am chopping it to bits to get out and try this, but it's raining. Thanks

Re: Grip change
Hi Navy,
Went to a country week clinic on Sunday. The pro said my grip was weak. Looked like your old one - especially the right hand.
He changed it to being stronger (left hand seeing 2 to 3 knuckles and the right with the V to the right shoulder). Feeling awkward but with practice getting used to it. I've hit a few hooks with it but no doubt my body will adjust.
When my grip was weak I was hitting them off the tee and with the long irons, high and with a fade.
Pro said that this weak grip will cause the club face to be open at impact. The change will create a lower ball flight and more length.
Sailor, how's your ball flight before and after

Re: Grip change
Well it's been raining here, so I haven't been out to the course, but I know it will work. It was only my right hand out of position, left was fine, so probably won't be alot of traj. change, due to the right usually just provides support. I have played with this grip before, just been awhile, things change when you don't pay attention to them, don't know when this changed, but in high school it was like it is on the right.
When I found this site and started thinking about swing problems I had posted on losing the angle and hitting occassional fat shot. Greg said look somewhere else for the problem. Life is funny...my high school coach use to say the same thing..every time I said I found something in my swing, he would say look some where else, because that ain't it. He also said the first three fundalmental of golf are Grip, Grip and Grip,
Grip - left hand
Grip - right hand
Grip - grip pressure
if you can not get the first three right, forget about the rest of the swing, because your wasting your time.
So with that in mind, I looked at greg's grip picture and said mine looks like that, but lets take a picture to be sure...what a shock had no idea I had gotten off, what looked good from my view is much different from the external view.
So the reason I am asking about this...because greg is also right about making changes, at my level you DO NOT make big changes until you are sure, what you doing is correct or you loose what you already have, so before I even go to the range, I wanted to be 100% sure in my mind, then comes range work, then to the course, probably be weeks before I can answer that question.Last edited by GoNavy; 02-23-2006, 08:25 PM.
