I don't know why but stuff like this really bugs me.

LOL..this test is a reaction time, you got your finger on the mouse, you know what to expect, same as a reflex. I mentioned reflexs happen at much faster rate. try to beat that 1.2 moving bigger musles then your finger. Stick your elbow on the mouse where you have to use big muscles.

As for the thread, I said you would get some debate, never fails. When start talking mechanics everyone can usually agree, but start talking feel, ooohhhwweee you open up a hornets then. I learn more by feel then mechanic, it's not for everyone. If I ruffled feather, my apologies.

I don't think my finger was acting on reflex. It recieved no direct stimulus and thus it could not be a "muscle memory" reaction.

Anyway that is enough "threadjacking" for me.

As for the thread, I have nothing useful to add. Except I keep my arm straight. Also, wasn't the bent left arm the next great idea of from the guy who "invented" natural golf?

I would say keeping the left arm straight is more important than bringing the club to parallel. If your hips are already fully loaded then you are already getting the maximum coil you can get. Trying to force the club to go back further by contorting the other parts of your body should not contribute positively.

Hi,

just make a collection from six players at the impact moment (or very close to it. You can see the ball - so you can make your own estimation.)

From target line I noticed that the position at address and at impact were very different. Hands are "much" higher at impact and the angle between shaft and arms straighten. Also torso or spine is more upright at impact. (Here is a lot of variation depending on player.) One thing that affects this is the "coil/rotation" of hips.

The collection shows six different degrees of rotation at the impact moment:-)

Well I said I would post the results of my round. Well it was not
pretty. It was not the left arm straight issue. It was the space
between my ears.

So I will start another thread to ask about that.

interesting post. I recently went away with my son who is a decent golfer - 10 handicapp. all of a sudden started shanking - bad. club was not releasing at all. I think in attempt to correct his swing plane - has a tendency to bring it to flat, he was lifting the club up and I noticed his left elbow was bent. I told him to try keep his left arm extended, not dead straight. basically this immediately corrected the problem. If I'm not mistaken, pros don't like telling student to keep the left arm straight for 3 reasons. 1) you don't want a lot of tension in the arms, 2) left arm does fold up after impact 3) too dead straight and the arm will disconnect from the body.
