  • one plane swing = wedge troubles

recently started working on a one plane swing. I saw instant improvement with my irons and fairways woods and some improvement with my driver, at least i have a little draw now. I also have much better ball striking. My problem seems to be with my sand wedge and my lob wedge, ive been skulling them, hitting line drives. These were my money clubs and now im strugling with them. It seems hard to bring the club around the body and hit a wedge, maybe im just not hitting down on the ball. Anyone else have this problem ? Any help or advice would be very welcome, thanx

    Hi jqmustang,

I'm sure you are aware that the swing would be much steeper with the wedges and shorter clubs. Although I'm not a one plane swinger, I would imagine that it would be easier to swing the shorter clubs on a steeper plane compared to the longer clubs on a more oblique plane. So I think your issues are probably much simpler than you imagine Steeper setup and steeper swing plane to match the shorter clubs?

many "one plane" swingers dont understand the difference between taking it back on "one plane" and taking it back to the inside too quickly. Many adaptees start taking it back inside too quick and this causes them to be REALLY flat on anything shorter then a full shot

Re: one plane swing = wedge troubles

i see what you guys mean, i have an additional question, is it possible that my wedges make it a little harder to hit? I have the 56deg & 60deg F2 wedges with the face forward technology. IT almonst seems like the face forward is working against me. Again i was able to hit them with my old swing, but i had other major problems with my swing plane. So to make it clear , you guys are saying i dont really have to wrap the club around my body for my swing to be one plane? it seems that most of my trouble is on inbetween shots were i have to got 50% or 75%.

a question for you, would you consider sergio garcia to be a one plane or two plane swinger?

Re: one plane swing = wedge troubles

do a google search and find his swing, then tell me if you think it is a one plane or two plane. This way I get and idea of what YOU consider to be a one plane or two plane swing.

Re: one plane swing = wedge troubles

Make sure you're bending forward from the hips not the waist i.e. keep your back straight and the wedge problems should disappear
