Re: Mental problem
A great feeling here is to play with your 'shoulders'. On the backswing just feel like the backswing is iniated by turning the left shoulder over the right knee. Let the arms and hands go where the shoulders take them. This automatically puts you on perfect plane and makes sure you turn into your right hip and dont slide. When you get the hang of this you can also try and feel your right heel pushing into the ground at the same time as that shoulder turn
Then from the top feel like you make a small shift of the hips and then try and get your right shoulder to face the target. Since your right shoulder has to come through impact and right around it doesnt 'stop' at the ball, it keeps accelerating as your body turns through. Again keep your hands and arms like spaghetti, loose and relaxed so that the shoulders freewheel them through the ball
Since your shoulders move on a much smaller radius than your arms they are far easier to control and this really helps me swing through. Look at all great finish positions and you will see the right shoulder facing the target
As with anything do with this half swings and wedges, short irons first and i'll bet you make great contact
If you then tell yourself when you go play that is all you want to work on and forget score that takes the pressure off yourself (as long as you stick to it). You could even tell your playing partner you are working on a change and you may have some duffs but could he keep an eye on you to see if you are doing it ok. Takes the pressure right off
