  • to overlap or not to overlap...

Hello, I have a question regarding my grip. I have only been golfing for about a year now and I am seeing steady improvement. The grip that I use is one in which I do not overlap or interlock (baseball grip, I think it's called). A friend of mine says that I will never get the max distance out of my clubs unless I go to one of the smaller gripping methods. I do have problems with my distance and would like to see improvement in that area, but I don't want to throw off my golf swing now that I am seeing improvement in my game. What do you suggest?

    mchriswell,

I would definitely suggest switching. Any student I pick up I first look at the grip. For a baseball swinger, an overlap would probably be more comfortable and will get your hands moving as a unit. As with any change, it will feel uncomfortable at first, but this is an evolving game.

To get better requires change, to stay the same requires nothing!!!
