  • pillow drill

I've been practicing my swing at home. To get some feedback I found an old pillow. I use the pillow as a marker for a ball. Idea is not to hit the pillow, but only sweep the surface - so that you can hear the impact, but pillow does not move. If the pillow moves, you have hit a thick shot.

To have a target when practicing a swing makes the situation much more real.

Any other ideas on how to make swing-practice at home more interesting?

Try practicing at home by chipping balls into an upturned umbrella . vary the distance every ten balls

I think I could do it, if I use birdie-balls. I mean inside the house.
In the backward I could do it with actual golf balls.

I need a drill to control trajectory - the angle the ball takes off.

        Use different irons and wedges.

Here is a tip from www.golfdigestchallange.com by Chuck Cook:

"Stretch two strings from shafts stuck in the ground, as shown. From 10 yards back, hit wedges through the 'window.' Move back a yard and try it with a 9-iron, then continue moving back a yard as you work your way down through your iron set."

I have not tried it. I have been using an umbrella. I might use a wall as a target, too? Just to see how high I hit it. I am using birdie balls at my backward. The feel is not the same as in real balls, but I do not have room enough to hit them at home - and I do not dare to build my own practicing set up at the club.
