  • turning hands over

i am turning my hands over really quick in my downswing, so much that i have to have a weak grip and have the clubface a tad bit open at address, should i be trying to fix it back to normal or let it go like this

im hitting everything good that doesnt have alot of offset(wedges and shorts irons, woods)

but get me to my supergame improvement 4 and 5 iron and i have to really open the clubface open at address

it is much easier to release the club with a neutral to stronger grip. make sure both the v's on the grip are pointing to the left shoulder and in the same direction. If you lift the toe of the club up in front of you it should be pointing straight up. Also make sure the butt of the club in the left hand is under the pad of the palm and not riding up up in the crease of the palm.

is he left handed? and if not you meant pointing to the right shoulder, right?

Shootin4par! You got there first with that one!

Kinda hard to diagnose this one as any number of things could lead to an early release/flipping your hands. One thing I would like to point out though, is that the "flipping" or more accurately "releasing" of the hands, if all is working in sinc and in the right order, should occur through the natural progression of the swing i.e. through centrifugal force. Physical attempts with the wrists to square the club and hit the ball hard can lead to all sorts of nastiness.

I agree, swing path is most likely the culprit

well im not realeasing my hands on purpose, if i swing right i have to have my left hand weak and right hand strong to hit a strait shot, if i have left hand little strong and right hand a little strong, the clubface is closed when i hit the ball

the weird thing is that this just came out of no where, i used to have a strong grip all around and used to hit good shots but then i started hitting low pulled grounders or slices from hitting way out on the toe because the face was closed so i was desperate enuff to try hitting the ball like this and it is working kindah but i think ive lost a good bit of distance with my irons

I think when you have the strong grip, you may be hanging back on the right side.

that could be true, my left leg has been hurt so i havnt been able to post up on it very good

ive been reading on lie angle and i put my numbers in a custom fitting thingie and it says i should have -2 degrees lie, im hitting alot of my shots off the to left thats why i tried a really weak grip, also when hit a shot alot of the times it feels like the club twist in my grip, i wear a glove and have brand new golf pride grips. ive also noticed the part under the hosel is very scratched up and dirty (my measurements are 5' 7" and wrist to floor is 30")

i think i have an old 5 iron with a flat lie, i hit it in the net a few times before i went to my tournament today and i was hitting it perfect, i was all psyched up for the tournament but when i was hitting some practice balls with my clubs it was the same ole ****
