  • Adding Lead Weight to your Driver

I have a TaloreMade 540xd driver. I used a friend’s R7 and loved it. The R7 is heavier than my 540, and I thought that the additional weight allowed me to have a better “tempo” and I was able to generate more distance.

I have since added some lead weight strips to the back of my 540xd and I really appreciate the difference. I am not sure if I get as much distance as the R7, but I definitely hit my club better.

The only problem I had was the lead tape strips were falling off. I am thinking of a more permanent solution, perhaps crazy glue – but I might change my mind later, or wish to move the weight around, and then what….

If you club is feeling too light for you, you may want to consider some lead tape strips – it is inexpensive – and it certainly worked for me!

Once you've got the strips where you want 'em, make sure you burnish them on.

And "burnish" means to take a smooth rounded object...one that will create little friction, and rub/press on the strips to make them stick better.
