  • Questions That I Need 2 Know :(

    Hi,

If I was to hit one of my Irons or a driver, on my backswing would I make my right leg straight or keep it bent, I dont no what to do and its making me play quite bad because I keep trying different things out can somebody answer me...

Also, if I hit an iron and it started straight and then went to the right what could I be doing wrong. I tightend my grip a little but that doesnt work, but I have fixed my 3 wood just by swinging lower and more round....

    any ideas wud be good!

asap please as I will be going golfing tomorrow and could try out your ideas.

Stop a Left to right shot

    Hi MaKa,

Try and keep your right leg comfortably flexed on the backswing, this not only helps keep your stability but also helps store power for release on the downswing.

The shots that start straight then go right - the ball moves this way because left to right spin has been imparted onto the ball. This comes from a swing path that is from out-to-in. Tightening your grip will not actually help solve this fault it will actually make it worse.

There are many causes of an unwanted left to right ball flight but these are the main ones:

    Check through the following list:

Aim: Club face could be too open (pointing right of the target).
Grip: One or both hand could too far to the left on the grip (Weak). Check your grip here.
Ball Position: May be positioned too far forward. Ceck your ball position here
Body Alignment: The feet, hips and shoulders could be aiming to the left of parallel to the ball-to-target line. Check your alignment here.
Posture: You could be standing too far from the ball. Check your posture here.
Backswing: You may be picking the club up too steeply. Check your backswing
Throughswing: You may not be transferring your weight, with the correct lateral hip movement through the ball. Check your throughswing here.

If you are still having problems, post another question along with a video clip or series of photos at our photo gallery.
