Let me warn you this is a loaded question. First, I am trying to get sequence of correct mechanical events down in my swing. I have had a very difficult time incorporating the move from the top with a "lateral bump and hip turn" mainly because I have an "armsy" takeaway. I have been working with a weighted momentus swing trainer this spring and it has seemed to change my takeaway to more of a one piece move, but sometimes it feels that I am swaying back although my weight at the top is still on the inside-center of my right foot. This takeaway has made the lateral bump and hip turn for the downswing a much more natural and simple move for me as gravity seems to do that work on its own, and my shots last weekend were reflective of that.
Anytime I make a change I am always worried that I am making the wrong change or putting a bandaid on a problem area. I got great results with this move. What is the consensus about this takeaway?
I have seen some pro swings that have an ever so slight torso shift just before the arms and shoulders take the club back in the backswing so I am hoping for some confirmation here.
