I usually start with a little prayer.

vp27519:Spank the monkey indeed!!hehe..no actually i was referring to that spanking feeling you get/hear when you put that clubface on the ball squarely..you know that effortless hit that seems like it will fly off into the sunset.I see ya from "Down Under"..i have a friend who is an Aussie who resides in Sydney..His name is Chris Drummond and a great guy he is.I see him in Memphis Tn. every year during "ELVIS WEEK"..as we're both huge EP fans.David in Alabama.

          Dave and Ben

I'm glad you guys have a sense of humour. Some haven't twigged with the aussie humour as yet.

I've got a good mate that lives in cincinatti ohio. Hooking up with her and another friend in Hawaii for a week - go girls.

It should be a reaction to the forward press - look at almost all the top players, they have a gentle press towards the ball and that lets them move away smoothly - into whichever of the other keys they use.

Could you explain how to put this move together? How to feel its right?
              how to get width,
do not pick the arm up and around you, pick the arm up and away from you. if I was standing behind you and I said hand me your club with your right hand, would you have width? The right arm does not pick up and around your body, let the right arm extend away from the ball and away from you. if it goes too much around you it will not allow the shoulders to turn.

That sounds like the same advice of keeping your hands in front of your body, which I interpret to mean not to wrap the club around your body but rather let the shoulder rotation bring the club around your body in due course, thereby ensuring you have enough coil. Am I right?

So indeed what I was really thinking regarding the takeaway (and the whole backswing for that matter) - since this movement does not lead to impact (meaning speed is not the factor here), and as long as you know the various positions and checkpoints along the way, should it really matter how you get to all those checkpoints, as long as you get there?

                  Re: what starts your takeaway?

FYI, Martin Green, Peter Croker, Mark Evershed are all well known teaching pros that advocate a right arm takeaway. Some searching the net for them may help you get some info. I know Green operates out of the HOmbre course in Panama City Fla, Evershed out of Ontario, I think Croker's out of Australia. every once in a while their video stuff is on ebay. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
