  • Too Much Lag On The Downswing

Too much lag causes me to back behind the ball in a effort to get reasonable height to my shots. My shaft is angle well foward at impact.

Any ideas or drill to help this?

    Hi Sheep dog,

Not sure but I think you mean you are leaving the club behind and hitting to late, if this is the case then you will push alot of shots and hook the odd few as the wrists compensate.

Cure, the lateness is not a problem more the opposite an asset, what you are no doubt doing is dropping to much on the inside coming down this gets the club "stuck" behind the body, what you need to do is look at the downswing path, work on the swing plane into impact.

I have a video clip to help if you send me your e-mail address via private messaging.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.

Also try to lighten your grip, you will delay the automatic release if you are holding the club too tightly

With a shaft angle well forward at impact, it sounds like you're flipping your wrists trying to get the ball up. If you don't like the height of you driver, buy one with more loft, and stop flipping your hands.
