  • Poor Contact

Well, why I am waiting to upload my swing video here, I will ask a simple question. If my hips are turning properly, my timing is good, my shoulders are behind the ball in a power position,my plane is good, why am I pushing so many shots? When I do feel like I get through the ball, my contact is on the inside part of the clubhead. Not a good feeling. Am I not getting the clubface closed or what? Any ideas? Thanks.

    Re: Poor Contact

If you're a hard swinger you might be doing 2 things:
1./ Shooting your hips too far forward in a line towards the hole. While this generates a lot of power (as seen in a discus thrower) this would move the ball back in the swing so that the clubhead is coming from the inside and pushing the ball to the right.
2./ Swinging hard makes your arms extend further from the increased apparent centrifugal force pushing them away from your body. This moves the clubhead away and results in striking the ball with the heel of the club.

These can be solved by teeing the ball forward and out from its normal position (or, of course, stopping the hip-shooting and pulling in the arms).

Other than that it may be a swing plane issue or that you are not rotating the hands so the the face is slightly open at impact. Without seeing your video it's tough to say.

Try putting a tee a couple of inches on both sides of your ball when your at the range. Practice hitting the ball and not the tees. Should start making crisp contact.
