  • Short irons not square halfway back

Good Morning All:yesterday at range i noticed that on short irons 7-pw im not getting the face opened up or toe pointed up at horizontal position. Its closed.Im pulling right because of this.Seems as though i have a real problem getting my right elbow folded properly.I struggled with a hook with my metals for this same reason simply because i couldnt let the toe start opening in the takeaway(right elbow wanted to fly).Once i started concentrating on this point i started "spanking" the metals long and straight. But with the irons its a lot harder for me to get this done.If i take it back a little more inside it opens up..but then im too flat and i pull them or shank.I work away from the ball with a shoulder rotation "one piece triangle".Any ideas? Thanks in advance.David

thought i would reply to myself here..i went down in the yard after i posted above and i see the problem..with the shorter irons my shoulder rotation turns into a shoulder "rock" or "dip"..keeping it closed.Gonna hit the range today and experiment with moving ball out a width or so to try and get the rotation back..i also found that leading takeaway more handsy(then rotating) also helps with this problem.David
