Re: My irons are ok but my drives suck.. slice
what is your ball flight path, way left then right, straight then right?
right handed or lefthanded?
strengthen your grip, make sure you can see 3 or more knuckles on your left hand grip
make sure you are coming from the inside not over the top(OTT)

Re: My irons are ok but my drives suck.. slice
Had the same problem. Wanted to strengthen my grip but my coach advised against it - better to keep the same grip for all clubs rather than having to switch (since irons and shorter woods were ok). Instead, I was asked to look at my release. I had a lack of rotation of the forearms upon impact with the driver.

Re: My irons are ok but my drives suck.. slice
Simon,
I have been working on a new swing that has worked great for my irons, but I have been having problems with the driver. My Driver swing feels the same as my iron shots, but with much worse results. I seem to come over the top and end up with a duck hook. Maybe I need to work on a fuller rotation with the driver.
Any suggestions on how to increase that forearm rotation?
Bruce.

Re: My irons are ok but my drives suck.. slice
Hi Bruce,
Was it a slice or a duck hook? First thing perhaps if you can, try to check your clubhead at impact. See if it's open? Think it's something to do with the length of the driver, and people generally expect it to go further so they tend to really rip it, and all sorts of things go wrongSo I'd say, check for an open clubface first? Cheers!

Re: My irons are ok but my drives suck.. slice
Simon,
I used to have a problem with slice shots, but not any more. Now I am concerned about my hook shots. They start off to the left and hook even further to the left (right hander). I think I am trying to power it with my right hand and I think my spine angle changes and I hit the ball solidly, but from outside in.
The other day I was working on my driver, and decided to turn my left foot inward. It seemed to help straighten out my drives. I think it allows me to rotate more. I still need to work on moving my hips out of the way.
