Advice on Putters

Hi GTO members

A while back I used to put with an old golden goose putter. I then decided to "get with the times" and upgraded to a ping-eye (heel-toe) putter. I've more recently "upgraded" again to an Odyssey heel-toe putter. Each time I've upgraded I've traded my previous putter in. I'm now in the situation where I'm really not happy with the feel of my current putter and am thinking of going "back to basics". The putter I felt most comfortable with was the old golden goose (the current day equivalent wold be one of the classic shaped Scotty Cameron putters). I also really like the feel of the old classic shaped Ray-Cook putter (the half oval shaped one). Another putter that I really liked the feel of was the old (spoon shaped) one that Phil Mickelson used to put with (not sure of he's still using it)

So to cut a long really story short - can anyone give me some options on some "modern" putters that have a really, really soft feel to them?? (or should I just go back to the old golden goose??

Comfort goes a long ways when it comes to golfing, and especially putting.

I would ask myself one question if I were in your shoes. How many putts per round did you average with your "Golden Goose" putter? If I was averaging under 31 putts per round (1.72 per green) I would not change.

That being said, you will need to try a bunch of different putters to find what feels best for you, (what feels great to me, may not feel right for you) and would also advise to not let price lead you to your decision. By that I mean, the higher dollar putter is not always the best way to go. The only thing that counts with a putter is how many strokes you take to get the ball in the hole per round of golf. ......GJS
