had my first ever lesson today thought i was doing ok for someone who's only been playing 12 months and who is self taught via this site and monthly golf magazines. recently playing some nice shots and carding some good scores so imagine my surprise when i find my grip is wrong (too strong) ball to far back in my stance and hands too far forward at address. so ive bitten the bullet and accepted that i may have to go backwards before i can improve. i seemed to have the grip sorted by the end of the session. the pro was pretty good he lent me refiner club to practise with!

Re: valuable lesson
thanks gord,
this game really got to me shame it took me this long to realise what a great game this is. okay im never going to be a tour pro but that doesnt mean i want to fart around on 24 the rest of my life!
pro was recommended to me and seems a good guy so i got faith in what he is saying and confident he can and will make me a better player!

Re: valuable lesson
you sound like the ideal student!!!!
You definitely have the right mind set and attitude to succeed. Listen to your pro, work diligently on the drills he gives you and don't jump ahead. You will be amazed with your results.

Re: valuable lesson
I think it's great that you are willing and even prepared to take a step back so that you can achieve some breakthroughs. I know a lot of people who would not be willing to do that for fear of leaving the comfort zone.
Persevere!
