  • Over Swing Problem!!!

    Hi there,

I have been playing golf for around 2 years now and have managed to reduce my handicap from a shocking 21 to 13.5. The main problems I can't seem to totally get rid of is an over swing which also leads to a hip slide / reverse pivot. Does anyone know of a cure for the dreaded over swing? Some weeks I think I have cracked it and everything slots into place with regards to my swing, then the week after it's like I never knew it!!! Guess thats the game of golf. I would like to hear all your remedies if you have any.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Re: Over Swing Problem!!!

i used to do that all the time and really makes for inconsistent ball striking, i solved my problem by taking slow back swings and making sure to make a complete shoulder turn, you might feel that you have no power but believe me the ball will travel much further because you will hit the sweet spot more consistent. give it a try

      Re: Over Swing Problem!!!

Thanks for this tip. I went to the range last night and tried to work on a few things after not playing for several weeks. I found about half way through the session that a slow back swing with an even tempo coming through worked perfectly. I tried to get in my head a 'Tick-Tock' rythmn and swung the club to this beat and it helped loads. Along with that thought was to hold my finish with the full turn enabling me to end up facing the target. This all seemed fine with a 9 iron so I will have to see if my theory works will all the other clubs in the bag!!!

The Swingyde is a really neat device for feedback if your problem is overswing from improper wrist cock. The bent arm issue is going to need Tac-Tic Elbow. Google it. Yes, I have both. Tac-Tic elbow is esp good.

The principle of subconscious training is to use a feedback mechanism until it become automatic. If you are like me, this will take about 100,000 balls.

Some gifted athletes are far, far less.

its what wildwilly911 said..the shoulder turn all the way to the top of your backswing..you do that and you will not overswing..and like wildwilly911 also said..it will feel as though you are not gonna generate enough power..but you will nail it effortlessly like never before..just trust it.David
