  • Pulling shots and loss of distance

I am concerned in how far I am turning my hips in the downswing. I feel I am turning them far too much, could this be the reason for my constant pull shots and a loss in distance.

In my limited experience pull shots are usually caused from the opposite. Your upper body is faster than your lower. Of couse this is if your swing isn't over the top.

My guess is that your swing is over the top which if your club face is square to that plane will cause you to pull it.

If your snap hooking a lot of shots, not just pulling them. Then your hips may be to fast, causing the club to be stuck behind you, which causes a severe inside to outside swing. If you were doing this though I'd expect a lot of shots to be blocked, or pushed as well.

Check your divots, if they go left from beginning to end, its a pull, which, would mean you are swinging from out to in or the club face is closed at impact. You are probably out of sync and moving way too fast and/or jerking your arms down without completing backswing and allowing natural transition. Also, a pull results from not having your grip so that both hands work together for squaring of the clubface and full release of the clubface.
If your divots begin straight and then go left, it means you are closer to being good at impact but may have a closed face from poor grip(too strong) or poor release.
The pro's divots do not always go straight and most will be straight at the beginning but curve left because they are swinging around past impact creating clearing of the hips and good release lagging the club behind them.
Check grip-it is best if it is neutral
Check alignment-either too closed or too open
Check downswing path-should be inside to square
Try to hit the ball on its lower left side quadrant and no further to the right than middle of the ball. I suspect you are hitting the ball right of center.
