  • my homemade grip

ok, so i was out in the pasture beating a few birdie balls around, girlfriend called so i started hitting balls with a seperated grip just messing around, like my left hand is at the butt end of the club and my right hand is at the bottom where my thumb and right index finger are touching the shaft, i was hitting the birdie ball awesome

i had to tell my girlfriend ill call her later i was getting so excited, i was hitting the birdie ball higher and farther with my 7 iron with this i guess hockey like grip, im serious, it feels like i got so much control and it seems hard to open and close the face so it pretty much stays square

just thought i ask yalls opinion on it, pick up a club and swing it like this, tell me how it feels

If I read this right, you are suggesting a split grip, which Leadbetter has as one of his standard drills (along with a 1000 other instructors).

This is to get a feel of a proper release, and might be helping you. I think the issue is that you'll find that you'll not get the proper club head speed, and eventually it "should" limit your growth.

I played with somebody that used this as his STANDARD grip and drove me crazy because it just looked so wrong. But then again, he was an 8, and I'm much higher.
