  • different grip for driver

    hi guys,
    a quick question for you!
i am now using a neutral grip with my irons and getting good distance and accuracy but when use that grip with my driver im still fading and slicing ive now adopted a strong grip for this club and getting a straighter shot.
should i be using the same grip for all clubs?

    Hi Slats,

Should really mate, you are probably just going at the driver a little to much mate hence the cut/slice...........................

same grip just easy off with the macho stuff........

    Ian.

Agree with Ian (as usual ) but one other thing to check is that you are fully releasing the driver by swinging 'around the corner' to the left. I have a tendency to hold off the release in a misguided attempt to swing down the target line for too long, which leaves the clubface open a little and of course that 'little' magnifies itself more on a driver with the reduced loft

        hi ian and paul
        thanks for your replies guys
i guess i always knew what your responses would be and i realise im trying to cut corners but honestly ian im really trying to groove a tension free swing and its working great with my irons even the long ones.
i have chopped 1" off all my irons would i benefit from shortening my driver if all else fails!
paul i think you have a point about swinging down the target line and not around the body i will try to get into doing that.
the weather is sh*te as usual at the moment (even the pro cancelled on me) so its a good time to spend indoors just trying to ingrain a good swing
