  • Rotation and hooking

Symptoms - a slight pull and a hook, sometime a hard duckhook. I slight pull my short irons, with a draw.

Backswing - I keep my right elbow down (maybe even a little towards the target line). I try to bring both elbows down on plane (with my right elbow clearing my hip at impact, as suggested by Jim McClean in the "power line" idea).

I release full in a powerful snap (no chicken wing). It feels good and strong until I look at the result - although I can feel my clubface is closed at impact. However, I can't seem to do anything about the closed clubface and still get a full release. All the tricks I've read on fixing a duckhook seem to involve not giving a full release. I'm not a big guy and feel I need the full release.

I've tried a weaker grip, but surprisingly my hands rotate even harder and it makes it worse (I have 3 knuckles showing).

I've tried wrist cocking early with my left hand, thinking that this may put more dominance in my left hand (instead of my right).

I've tried pronating my wrist at the top, but this made it worse.

I've tried to get more activity from my legs, which helps a little, but I don't feel I get a good coil.

One other thing - I've looked at videos and it does seem that I may be a releasing little too early.

Help!!!! How do I full release without the pull hook?

    Lew,

I am working on a long post to help some of the hooking members of the community. I want to include some pictures. Keep checking back.
