  • Width of stance

I am unsure of stance width with the driver. I currently adress the ball as follows: Ball just inside left leg, head behind ball, and my stance width just wider than my shoulders. however, someone at the range told me my stance should be half the width. I am confused.

    Re: Width of stance

    hi robert,
i suppose everyone is different but ill tell you how i set up.
line up club face, stand with feet together with ball on centre line of you feet move front out 1.1/2" and turn it out 20 degrees then step back foot out so that your insteps are shoulder width drop right shoulder place slightly more weight on back foot to make you swing up on the ball.
    p.s im no expert

        Re: Width of stance

Wider stance will be more stable and that means fewer moving parts which is good. It will limit the backswing but that's over-rated anyway.

Everyone is different. Saying one stance is better than another is pretty-well BS. Your swing is a bunch of factors rolled into one. Stance, posture, grip, etc etc.

I think people should mind their own business, unless their advice is asked.

        My 2ยข.

james is correct.we are all different. its has took a lot of trial and error hooks and slices for me to find the right set up for me so go to the range and experiment till you find something that works for you!
make very small adjustment till youve fine tuned it
          good luck

            Re: Width of stance

when the insteps start getting wider then shoulder width you begin to encourage swaying of the hips rather then rotation and that is not good.
