I have been trying the 'Dead Hands" swing 60 yards and in. I am mot sure If I let it take over my regular swing but now I have begun to "SHANK"!!! Does "Dead hands" lead to Shank? I was reading Dave Pelz's short game bible and remember seeing something like "...in the begining you may even shank". I know shanks come for a few other reasons too. But does it als occur due to dead hands ?

Re: "Dead hands" and "shanks"
not really sure what dead hand is, i am assuming it mean relaxed.... but for the shorter shots i think it is ok to have tigher hands. you usaully set your hand rally early in the 60ydsiin shot, so i would think you would need to have a bit more tension in your grip so that you can whip the club back early. i think with the linger clubs it is easy to have dead hand becaue you have the whole backswing for the hands to set.

Re: "Dead hands" and "shanks"
Hi there,
I think you might find it is dead hands not dead body, the term means less wrist break, this helps with shorter pitches, the cause of the shanks to hazard a guess is you are not turning you body on the downswing.
even with the short pitch you must accelerate through the ball with all you body facing the target.
Hope this helps
Liam.
