I am looking for an easy to understand way to delay the hit or contact with the ball using my driver. Anybody have a tip?

mtibt,
I know I'm going to hear it for saying this, but I will qualify my answer. After studing the swing with high speed cameras and such there is no delay in a golf swing. DO NOT TRY TO PUT A DELAY IN YOUR SWING!!!
The delay you feel is a mechanical issue. The last two things that take place before impact is the straightening of the right arm and the uncocking (straightening) of the right wrist. This will give a feeling of a delay. Those 2 things catching up with the ball joint of the left shoulder will produce the effect of a delay.
To most golfers the delay is a slowing or declerating motion due to a failure to turn the navel through the ball. Notice I did not say a cast. Casting is not a bad thing. The casting motion is correct it is just out of sequence.
If you need a further explaination, I will add to this thread.

Retain is a better word than delay.
Retain the angle of your wrist just prior to impact. Retain the flex in your right knee (for a right handed player)
But most of all retain your composure and enjoy the day on the golf course!!
I’m off to play Stoke Park Golf club in 3 hrs in a scratch match, so I need to get my practice in good time and get fired up for great days golf.
DON’T DELAY!!
Regards cliff
