Thanks alot. the ProV Ix is a titelist? I have a buddy here that has decided to interject and said the Nike One was a good ball for hard hitters and might be a tad cheaper. Any thoughts?

At least to me, I have not really seen a huge diference between a Pro V1, A Bridgstone B330, Nike 1 or a Callaway Black. For me The ProVIx goes farther then those above (I think about 10 yds with the Driver not much change with my irons), I have heard that it is an easier ball to compress and is designed to increase distance (by making it with a thinner outer layer) for those who lack the Pro's swing speeds. (My swing speed is somewhere between 90-95). With your swing speed I would say that any of the above would be good to use and might be better then a PorV1x since you have the swing speed to compress them. (Though playing them might give you an idea)

Those above at least my understanding are made to spin less then the Hard golf balls of yester year and to also land softer. I think it would be hard to ever get consistent if you are switching between the above performance golf balls, hard distance golf balls and Soft spin Golf balls. Though I think until you get to the point of scratch golfing you probably can switch between any of the performance golf balls without hurting your game.

        Just my $0.02:

Go to your local golf shop, and buy a few sleeves of different balls. Go out on a slow day (or night), and hit them side by side by side by side (by side by side... you get the idea).

Narrow it down to one ball and then play it!

Thanx for the link James. That was also a great article that Frank Thomas wrote for the NY Times.. Interesting that what he suggested doing with the Pro tournament courses is exactly what the USGA did at Wing Foot for the US Open. And what an Open it was. I wonder if Mickelson has gotten out of bed yet??

I completely agree! This is what I do.

My swing speed with driver is not as impressive as iverson2169's. I average between 109 and 112. I have peaked at 118 but that was swinging out of my shoes. I have settled for one of two balls. I am currently using the Pro V1 as I agree with ogallalabob in that the Pro V1 is about 10 yards longer with a driver. For me it is about the feel of the ball as I putt with it. I have to have a softer ball as a legacy from my use of a Titleist Tour Balata back in the 80's and 90's until the ball was discontinued. Since then I went to the Titleist Professional then Pro V1. I ventured with the Maxfli Revolution (original) then A10 and Callaway HX but always returning to the Pro V1. I do like the Callaway HX ball as well.
