I'll tell you why someone would reply to a thread five years old in that way, since the "scary" person you're referring to would be me.
I started learning the Mike Austin swing last year. I did not have someone to instruct me on this swing in person until I ran into Golfbald on my home course. It was quite by chance that I found him. He helped me a bit, but now I don't see him anymore and so I have no instructor. I began searching through this forum and another one (FGI) for help. I saw that Golfbald had hundreds of posts on this forum and over 3,000 on FGI. So I began reading through them. He has given of his time and talents unselfishly to others to help them over the years. Truly a labor of love, in my opinion. Anyway, my search for Mike Austin swing information happened to bring up this thread and I saw that someone was very rude to him. Seems to happen on these forums for some reason, and it's quite unnecessary when a person is only trying help others. I was compelled to respond when I read what Goflbald wrote. It was classy and showed that he is the better man. He has been through a lot in his life. Most men would have their hearts hardened by it. He has not. So, I didn't care if it was 5 days ago or 5 years ago, I wanted to express my gratitude for all he's done.
I came to know and love that man for the kind and giving person he is. I miss him dearly. People like that deserve to be recognized and have the appreciation for them shared by others. I am one of those who people who reads a lot on these forums but rarely posts. It doesn't matter if Golfbald never reads what I wrote. What does matter is if others come across it and see that the written word here does make a difference and that people like Golfbald have made a positive difference in their lives as well as their golf swing. If that's "scary" then so be it. I think it's awesome that something written 5 years ago can still be accessed, whether by deliberate search or by accident, and it still has relevant value and can actually help someone. I appreciate this forum for that reason and many others.
So having said all that, anyone know of an authentic Mike Austin swing instructor in the New Orleans area? I could sure use one!
Only joking madam Golfbald has made some great posts on this site, he did post a few earlier this year I think. All the best with your golf
All these postings should really be undated since golf is timeless, eh? Anyway, nice post... And by the way, I do not believe that the wrists should turn or roll...
i heard a statement once that many a good golf swing has been ruined by thinking of how the wrists work so ive sort of kept away from this part of the swing
