    Re: aiming tips

I'm a bit like you mate and without laying down clubs at your feet every shot it gets a bit tricky sometimes jockeying yourself into the right line. The one i use most though is the railway line one. Imagine a set of railway tracks going straight at your target. Your feet are on one track and the ball is on the other. It helps you get square and is suprisingly easy to visualise. Doesn't mean a thing though when you shank, duff, slice duck-hook like i currently do though..........

      Re: aiming tips

      Hi shamed
This is a metheod i use as part of my pre-shot routine.

I stand behind the ball ,so that the ball is between me and the target . I then vertically lift my club and use it as a plum-bob so that shaft runs throught the ball to the target. While looking along this line i pick out an object about two feet from the ball, could be a leaf or a tuft of darker grass, and use it to align my clubface to at set up. Use this technique and u will always be on target.

Remember: always align the clubface before aligning your body.

      Regards ...Terry

thx for the comments...i generally try to find something in front of my target to line up with also, but i dont always line my club up before my body...i never feel comfortable when i set up, either i feel im to close or my feet arent straight or w/e but this always seems to mess me up..anyways thx and ill remember to do this and hopefully the setup will come around for me

          Hi shamed
just a point you might like to consider when lining up in the future..

If you are a few mm out at address, you will be a few yards out at the target.

          Good luck pal.......Terry

              Re: aiming tips

i dont know if this helps but i seem to get a bit uncomfortable with where my feet are aiming, so i will stand with my club pointing down the target line of my feet. However i used to aim my feet at the target, so tecnically my stanc was closed from what i was told, which cause me to play a soft hook. So make sure that your feet aim slightly to the left of the target if you are a righty and if you are a lefty to othe right. Just make sure not too much as you will then start to slice it a little. i hope this makes sense

I stand behind the ball and place my club head about a foot behind the ball in line with the target.Leaving the club head there, i then step to the side and line my feet up parallel with the line from the ball to my club head. This seems to work for me and i use it on every shot i play, whether off the tee or when chipping on to the green.

                  Re: aiming tips

This routine has worked for everyone I showed it to. I just saw it again in Golf Illustrated June 2006. Its bascially the Railroad Setup. Its everywhere....

                  1) Stand behind the ball looking at your target. Hold the club up in front of you and take your grip. Make sure you have the clubhead pointing towards the sky and get that clubface square.

                  2) Put the clubhead behind the ball SQUARE to your target. If it helps, pick out a target 10 feet or so in front of you to aim your clubface at(divot, discolored grass, broken tee).

                  3) Move your right foot in like you are taking your stance, however, put your right instep directly inline with the leading edge of the clubface. You want your right instep to be on the same line as that leading edge. DO NOT FLARE YOUR FOOT OUT AT THIS POINT.

                  4) Now bring your left foot in, 2 to 3 inches apart depending on how you space your feet for your setup. Your feet should mirror each other. Your toes should be a on straight line parallel to the target line. At his point the clubface should be aimed directly at your target, your "body" aimed parallel to the target line.

                  5) Now all you do is pull your right foot back away from your left. Move it back as far as the club you are hitting needs (big step for driver, small step for wedge).

You should be 100% square. Your shoulers, hips and feet should be PARALLEL to the target NOT POINTED AT THE TARGET!!!!!

If you want to draw....Drop your right toes back inline with the middle of your left foot, then set your hips and shoulders in line with the line created by the toes of your feet. DONT MOVE THE CLUBFACE. Clubface should be pointed right at your target. Shoulders, hips and feet should be pointed at the target.

Bascially do the opposite to do a fade. Left foot back, body pointed AWAY from parallel.

****DO NOT FLARE YOUR FEET UNTIL THE VERY END. That is the last thing you should do. It can screw with your eyes and make you feel like you are aiming somewhere that you really aren't.****

I hope this long message helps
