  • Reverse Swing

I was working on drawing the driver last night. Getting there consistency wise. Trying to get it out more to the right of my target and stop coming over the top.

I was working backwards. I was taking my clubhead out in front of the ball and working it back over the tee to the inside. It was giving me a great feeling of extension, forearm rotation, and coming from the inside.

I took it a step further and started in my “perfect” finish position and actually went backwards to the top of my backswing and the try to retrace that motion back to the finish. It did this at less than half speed and worked it up faster from there. I did this after every 3 shots.

What I noticed is that I really have to think about the motions going backwards. I was surprised it didn’t screw me all up J I was really starting to the ball well. Nice slow draw back to my target. Effortless power.

Anyone else ever try this? Have any luck? Suggestions? Comments? I am curious if anyone has had success with this before.

    Thanks!

    Re: Reverse Swing

Yes, I have done that and it's a drill I get some students to work on at the range. I find it gets people to realize that the swing isn't complete until the followthrough is complete. Many beginners have the habbit of trying to stop their swing immesiately after impact, this gets them intot he habbit of a full, complete swing.
