  • New Swing Videos....please critique

Ok it has been 2 months of tinkering and now I have some new videos posted. I have worked on the following:

    1. Better posture: straighter back, better weight distribution.

    2. More narrow stance

    3. A little right wrist cup at takeaway

    4. Shorter backswing

    5. Straighter, more on plane takeaway

With my first move down, do I sway?
It still looks to me that I am too far inside.

Any comments are welcome....thanks in advance.

P.S. I got the names screwed up, so Face on is actually down the line and down the line is actually face on.

By the way, I was talking to the wife last night (who is a physical therapist and athletic trainer) about my backswing and she thought due to my build (stocky with broad shoulders) I would probably not be able to get into some of the positions of say Aaron Baddeley or Trevor Immelman on the backswing. Specifically, I will not be able to swing to parallel on plane because I am not flexible enough. What are your thoughts?

Short back swing can be good. I just noticed that I am trying to do a too long one. Downloaded my 3W swing to the swing gallery. (At the end of my back swing I lift my head.)

I think back swing is all about building tension for your downswing. It's not about getting your club parallel. Straight shot comes from square club head and correct line at the impact. It has very little to do with where you start your back swing.

If you are stiff, it's easier for you to build tension:-)

BUT if you are flexible, you have more time to accelerate. (I seem to have a stiffness problem in my follow through - and a flexibility problem in backswing.)

Nice swing - controlled - I think the pros would like to see the hit a bit later.

            JBRUNK:

You have a nice little forward press to set your swing in motion. Too many golfers start the backswing from a totally static set-up and this causes all kinds of problems. Runners and swimmers are always moving before the gun sounds and in golf we need to find a simliar (although more subtle) pre-motion to start the backswing. Your little hand press set's you up for a very fluid motion. Swing looks good.
