  • Putting Pointers

I thought I'd start a post where people could air some of their views on putting and any pointers or feelings they like to use or imagine when using this particular club. This way we can all share new methods and ideas to help all of us.

    I'll start you off:

If you hit a putt too hard always watch the route it takes as it goes past the hole, this gives you an idea of how the putt will break coming back.

A tip for on the course,
If you are pulling most putts move the ball back in your stance an inch, if you are pushing putts move it forward an inch.

When I am putting bad and not even feeling like I am going str8 back and str8 through it is because I am not leaning over enough. When I lean/bend over enough I feel like I am just pulling back and through with my middle shoulder muscles in the back. When I feel this way, I PUTT REALLY REALLY WELL.

Great ideas guys especially the one about pulling and pushing putts I'll try that the next time I'm out on the course.

I think if you think you are going to miss you will more often than not. Be confident and dont be scared. I was told by an elder golfer in my club there are 4 ways 2 miss a putt. Left, Right, Short and Long. Take away the Short one and its down 2 three ways of missing.

Putting is a mind game and that point is a very valid one. Be positive, attack the hole, think that you are going to make it.

I'm not a good enough putter to be giving tips, but I'll take them!

I like the tip on moving ball position based on if you are pulling/pushing putts. I'll be trying it next time on the course.

Try this. If you feel like your flicking at the ball with your wrists during the stroke have a go using the left below right putting grip and focus on pulling through with the left hand. Its what I do.

Another tip for on the course,
If your putts are going too far past the hole grip down on the putter an inch or two and if your putts are staying short grip up on your putter an inch or two.
