I have been having lots of trouble with my swing and though I have been playing for a few years I have not been able to get past 27 handicap. I have been to many pro's and I seem to end up with a swing thats too upright or too flat and usually end up back where I started. generally I throw my right shoulder out ( hitting from the top) and come down out to in, pushing my long clubs out and my short clubs to the left, not turning my right hand over on hitting. Now you would think that knowing the problem the solution would not be far behind, but this has not been so, the main reason I have been given is that my back swing is good but it's my downswing thats the problem, so I have been giving all kinds of exercises to pull the club straight down rather than turn my right shoulder, but any improvement has only ever been short lived.
I have not had a game for three weeks as I'm undergoing treatment for sun damage to my face and cannot go out in the sun while having same. So while I have not been able to play I have been going over and over my swing and I have came to the conclusion that the problem lies with my right arm in the takeaway. I feel I concentrate too much on pushing back the the left arm and shoulder while keeping the right arm passive, that I'm not getting enough right arm motion in the swing. I think that from this position at the top of the swing I cannot do otherwise than throw out my right shoulder. I have had a go on the range and seemed to hit them pretty good, but of course thats on the range. I hope to have a game this Saturday and see how I go. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
