Where should my club be at the very end of my backswing? I've noticed lately, especially on my driver, my clubhead is well below my hands so the shaft is at about a 45 degree angle from the top of my right shoulder across to the bottom of my left shoulder blade with the clubhead aiming at the ground. Is that taking it back too far? Could this be causing my swingplane to be off and making the ball tend to slice?

Re: Help me with my backswing
Just to elaborate a little more on my backswing, I come back about as far as John Daly does. The big difference between him and me is about 110 pounds(lol) and he keeps his clubhead on a proper plane to impact the ball correctly. In other words, he doesn't slice the ball too much. I do. Should I shorten up my backswing so my club is maybe parallel to the ground? Would that give me more control of my swing plane?
Does anyone think the right hand drill help me on this? I've watched the video and have been meaning to try it on the range, but it's been raining every since. I also purchased the Leadbetter Answer wrist brace to keep my right wrist in the cupped position. Has anyone tried one of these and do you think it will help?
Any advice I can get from people who know the game better then me is much appreciated.

Have a look at this thread

You sound like you are way overswinging. Shorter more compact backswing will help you explode into the ball and hit it with more accuracy

Re: Help me with my backswing
Thanks. I checked out that thread and there seems to be a lot of good advice there. I'm going to the driving range to try it out later today.

Re: Help me with my backswing
I got some advice from my brother(scratch handicap). After he looked at my swing a couple of times, he told me my hips were swaying back. He got me to set up and take my backswing without swaying then he moved my club up so it was parallel to the ground and pushed my upper body forward(seems like my spine angle was changing and I was leaning back) so my left shoulder was above my left foot. I took a couple practice swings like that and then started hitting a bucket of balls, concentrating on the things he told me. Let me tell you, it works. I'm now hitting the ball straight as an arrow 10 percent of the time and with a slight draw the other 90 percent of the time. Seems perfect to me. Looking at Tigers swing in slow motion at youtube - swingvision, my swing seems very similar to his now.
At the same time I also switched my grip to the interlocking grip which I hadn't used before. It was a little uncomfortable at first but by the time I had hit 20 balls, it felt natural. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Things seem to be going great.
