    Quite a nice swing thought to start the takeaway (I've found anyway) is to push the left shoulder forwards (assuming you are right handed) and do nothing else. You will get the sensation that your hands are very quiet - just think push instead of pull.

    This will naturally bring your club to the toe up position and parallel with the target line with your hands at about hip height.

    In fact as Greg mentioned, the leading edge of the club will be slightly closed - roughly in line with your spine angle.
