  • Would appreciate HELP with thin shots !!

I've been practicing with a Refiner 5I for about a week. I can swing it unbelievably well withhout breaking (until late in follow-thru). When I hit balls, I have a tendency to hit them on the toe and real thin. Even the short irons. I can usually work it out on the range, but out on the course I know it will ruin me. What is causing this ? I believe I have the ball too far forward. When I move it back, I feel blocked. Please, someone, advise.

    Thanks in advance, Lefty-9

    Hi Lefty,

I have looked at both threads you have posted, one fat on thin:

Ball Position is clearly your problem in the first instance, find some markings on the floor and put your feet along the line, now place a ball dead centre of your stance, make sure your shoulders are sqaure to your target too.

Now no matter what this feels like get used to it by practicing on the carpet or where ever your do this drill, once you have everything square and the ball dead centre, this is the position for an 8 iron, then just creep slightly more forward for the longer clubs.

Please view the ball position artical on this site under tuition.

Don't worry about the unusual feeling you have when you change something, that means your doing it right, besides it's got to be better than your shots now.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.
