  • Scoring

    Hi,
I have been playing golf since last June. This being said, I have only had about 6 and a half months of actual golfing because I live up north and the season appropriate for golf is about 6 months. I was wondering what a good 9-hole score is for someone who has been playing this long. I know many people are different for their scores vs. years playing but I am just curious.

    -thanks

    Hi pal
Try to shoot nothing more than a double bogey for each hole.

    first rule: HAVE FUN

      Re: Scoring

My first season playing at the local 9 hole course here, I was consistently shooting in the low 40's and I even broke 40 a couple times. That being said, I haven't seen too many first season duffers who regularly break 50. My secret(really no secret at all), I spent one full golf season on the driving range and chipping and putting on the practice green. The best advice I could give you is spend more time practicing then actually playing the game. Get to know the average distance you hit each club in your bag and learn consistency off the tee before you get too wrapped up in lowering your score. When you actually go out to play a round, don't put any pressure on yourself. Just play for fun and practice and eventually you will see your score get lower. If you find you're pressuring yourself too much one round because you think you had a bad round last time, do what I do. Put away the scorecard for a couple of rounds and just concentrate on the basics and have fun. NO PRESSURE.

Perhaps the best advice anyone who has done it could give: Don't golf with your brother or father. Too much competition there. Trust me, I know...
